City of Smithville Community Engagement Sessions

Following the Think Tank held in June 2019, the visioning process moved out into the next phase of engagement to the wider Smithville community. For the overall process to be successful, it is essential that thereis broad engagement across Smithville. Citizens from Smithville were invited to attend and participate in one or all of the following community engagement sessions.

June 27  3:00pm  – 4:30pm, Smithville Senior Center, 113 W. Main
June 27  6:00pm – 7:30pm, United Methodist Church, 505 US-169 Highway
June 28  10:00am – 11:30am, Smithville Mid-Continent  Public Library, 120 Richardson Street

June 28  6:00pm – 7:30pm, City Hall, 107 N. Main

The Think Tank explored and developed a range of different scenarios for the future of Smithville. The community engagement sessions provided an opportunity for the broad community to directly input into the process and into the future of Smithville.

The community engagement sessions included:

  • Presentation of the Scenarios
  • Implications of these Scenarios
  • Discussion around future preferences of Smithville
  • Community input around critical issues facing Smithville
  • Vision survey

Following the Community Engagement sessions, the Think Tank workshop group will be invited to reconvene on 18 September to work further on the Visioning process. This may be followed by additional focus group sessions with community members to further validate the engagement process results and reports.
