The Smithville Business and Economic Development Task Force, convened on Tuesday 28 July, 2020.
The discussion drilled into future economic drivers of Smithville and took a deep dive into preferred industries, planning implications and future land use options. In particular, the task force reviewed the proposed Industrial 169 Character Areas and the types of industries most suited. During the polling, it was very obvious that task-force members identified various technology and scientific based industries as ideal future land-use for this area. This included research and development, bio sciences, technology and light advanced manufacturing. The task force also placed high importance on this area creating jobs, and contributing to revenue for the City.
