Key Factors – Nature of Change

Respondents were asked to respond to a question about the ‘Expected nature of change of a range of factors for Smithville over the next 10 years’. The question was:

Over the next 10 years, do you think expected changes in each of these factors to be positive or negative for Smithville?
Scale: -5 = Very negative; + 5 = Very positive

Key things to note:

  • Quality of Education, Recreational opportunities and Quality of public infrastructure including streets and amenities were seen as the factors where expected changes over the next 10 years would be the most positive. This was followed by Proximity to Kansas City Airport, Job market and availability in Smithville and Kansas City area, Economic diversification such as retail and Housing options and types of housing available
  • Proximity to Kansas City Airport and Housing options and types of housing available did not feature as the factors that were most important in the future but were seen as factors where expected changes over the next 10 years would be the most positive
  • There was a spread of neutral responses regarding positive or negative change which could point towards respondents not knowing what to expect in 10 years
