Food Alternatives

There is discussion about the potential to see new food alternatives, including different ways to produce food, alternate proteins and new food sources. What do you think will be the impact and outcome by 2030?

1 = Strong reliance on traditional food sources, 10 = Substantial shift to new foods and alternate production

  • Substantial support exists for the development of new foods.
  • Stronger acceptance of food alternatives observed in developed markets (e.g. North America and Europe) than developing markets (e.g. Africa, India, and South America).
  • Stronger support observed among Commercial Sales/Marketing respondents than Supply Chain Management respondents suggesting that market tastes may be leading production cycles.
